AceShowbiz - Suri Cruise celebrated her milestone without the presence of her famous father. The teen spent her 18th birthday in New York City, where she has been living with her mother Katie Holmes, while Tom Cruise is away in London to film a new movie.

On her birthday Thursday, April 18, Suri was photographed out and about with her friend on a rainy day. Despite the unfriendly weather, the birthday girl appeared to be in good spirits, flashing a smile during a stroll with her gal pal.

Suri, who is the spitting image of her mom Katie, chatted with her friend as she held a pink umbrella over their heads. She carried a blue backpack and held what look like a birthday gift in her hand.

For the outing, Suri kept it casual in a denim jacket over a brown shirt, jeans and black shoes. Her long brunette hair was styled in low braids adorned with pink floral accessories. She also wore a necklace as an accessory while holding her phone in her hand.

On the same day, Suri was spotted picking up flowers at a local flower shop. She got her hands literally full as she picked three bouquets of white flowers. She had on baggy blue jeans, a loose burgundy cardigan and a heavy-duty denim jacket which was slung over one arm.

The brunette beauty completed her look with a large denim backpack and black suede sneakers. She also carried a hot drink in her hand with a white tote bag slung over her shoulder.

Katie, meanwhile, was photographed running errands across town, possibly before celebrating her daughter's birthday together.

Suri has been estranged from Tom since his divorce from the "Dawson's Creek" alum, who reportedly tries to shield her daughter from the Church of Scientology. Recently, Page Six reported that the actor had no relationship with his daughter, although he still paid his ex-wife $400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs."

That, however, will change with Suri's latest birthday. As she turns 18, the "Top Gun: Maverick" star will no longer be required to pay child support to Katie. But that may not bother Suri as a source told Daily Mail, "Suri will not have any contact with her father, despite being 18, and even if he called, she would not answer."

"He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything," the source added. "She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother."
