AceShowbiz - Linda Hamilton, renowned for her iconic portrayal in the "Terminator" franchise, has revealed that she considered retiring from acting before being cast in the upcoming fifth and final season of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things."
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 67-year-old actress explained that she had grown weary of playing tough characters, coupled with physical discomfort in her hip. "My hip was hurting for a couple of years and I was like, 'I'm so tired of being tough, and I just want to be able to make plans and make sure I can be there,' " Hamilton remarked.
Despite her doubts, Hamilton's agent received an unexpected call from "Stranger Things" casting, inquiring about her availability. Her agent immediately agreed without consulting her. "He didn't even ask me," Hamilton recalled.
Hamilton, a devoted fan of the supernatural series, admitted that joining the cast has spoiled some of its magic for her. "When you really buy into something, you don't see yourself in it," she explained. "I never watch [a project] once I'm in something."
While Hamilton has not revealed details about her role, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play a non-military character. "I have people come up to me my entire career saying, 'You're so pretty in person!' And they're confused! You never see me smile on film," Hamilton said.
Despite her initial retirement plans, Hamilton is enthusiastic about her current projects, including "Resident Alien" and "Stranger Things." "I'm really happy with the work I'm getting now," she stated. "I really just love the challenge."
