AceShowbiz - Rihanna has enraged some religious people with her recent photoshoot. The singer/actress has landed in hot water over her religious imagery in provocative photos which were unveiled on Tuesday, April 9.

During the photoshoot for the latest edition of Interview Magazine, the Barbadian beauty channeled a nun with a sexy twist. She rocked a black-and-white habit, the traditional garment worn by members of religious orders, while baring her cleavage.

The 36-year-old's outfit included an unbuttoned Dior blouse that exposed her chest. She also sported a small cross tattoo drawn on her face while sporting red lips and electric blue eyeshadow. She struck sensual poses in some of the pictures as she let the shirt fell over one of her shoulders.

After the photos were released, the backlash was immediate with many accusing Rihanna of mocking Christianity and Catholics. "So tired with all this unholy imagery!!!!" one wrote while another called the concept "religious mockery."

A disappointed fan commented, "I love Rihanna but I never understand why the obsession with sexualizing religious representations." Another asked, "Isn't this blasphemy??" as another declared, "Christianity gets disrespected way too openly."

Others lamented that it is "dehumanizing and degrading to see Christianity being continuously mocked" and "religious imagery being used for the wrong purposes." Another wondered "out of all the fashion in the world" why did the Fenty Beauty founder "chose to mock a religion."

Rihanna has not responded to the backlash as she proudly posted the pictures on her Instagram page. In a wide-ranging interview with the magazine, the Grammy winner gave an update on her long-awaited new album and talked about the possibility of expanding her family with A$AP Rocky.
