AceShowbiz - In an exclusive scoop, Deadline reports that Reese Witherspoon's production company, Hello Sunshine, is developing a spinoff TV series inspired by the iconic "Legally Blonde" film franchise for Amazon MGM Studios.
The project, currently in the early stages of development, is being written by "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter (Hello Sunshine), and Marc Platt (Legally Blonde film producer) will serve as executive producers alongside Schwartz and Savage's Fake Empire banner.
Details about the show's premise are being kept under wraps. However, Amazon and Hello Sunshine are reportedly considering expanding the Legally Blonde TV universe with a potential second spinoff series.
This move follows Amazon's acquisition of the MGM library, which includes the rights to the "Legally Blonde" franchise. The original film, based on Amanda Brown's novel, starred Witherspoon as Elle Woods, the Harvard Law student who became a pop culture sensation. A sequel, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," followed in 2003, along with a 2009 direct-to-video spinoff, "Legally Blondes."

Schwartz and Savage have produced several successful TV series in recent years, including "Nancy Drew," "City on Fire," the "Gossip Girl" reboot, and "Dynasty."
Their partnership with Hello Sunshine on the "Legally Blonde" spinoff marks the latest collaboration between Witherspoon's company and Amazon MGM Studios. Hello Sunshine recently produced the acclaimed Prime Video limited series "Daisy Jones & the Six" for the streaming service.
