AceShowbiz - Derek Hough, 38, and his wife Hayley Erbert, 29, have taken a significant step in their journey to recovery following Erbert's emergency brain surgery three months ago. On Wednesday, the couple shared a poignant black-and-white snapshot on Instagram, marking their return to the dance studio.
The photo shows the pair posing side by side, their backs turned to the camera. Erbert rests her head on Hough's shoulder, as they stand on an empty dance studio floor. The caption reads, "Stepping onto this blank canvas together. Beginning to paint again."
The photo comes just weeks after Erbert and Hough made their first joint red carpet appearance since Erbert's surgery. Erbert debuted a pixie hairstyle, as her dark locks continue to grow following a series of skull surgeries.
In December 2023, Erbert underwent emergency surgery after suffering a cranial hematoma, a burst blood vessel. The injury required an emergency craniectomy, followed by a second surgery to replace a large portion of her skull.
Hough has praised his wife's remarkable recovery, sharing, "She's doing amazing. She really is. I can't say enough, I really can't, how inspiring she is."
Erbert herself has expressed gratitude for her recovery, saying, "Life is so precious. Spend time with the ones you love. Hold them close, 'cause you never know what could happen."
Hough has hinted at the possibility of Erbert joining him on his upcoming "A Symphony of Dance Tour". "There's a possibility, there really is," he said. "If there's a moment where she's with us and joining us on stage, it's going to be unbelievably special."
