AceShowbiz - Devon Werkheiser, a former Nickelodeon star known for his role on "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide", has issued an apology to Drake Bell after seemingly mocking allegations raised on the docuseries "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV".
In a TikTok Live stream with his former co-stars Lindsey Shaw and Daniel Curtis Lee, Werkheiser joked about the abuse allegations made by Bell and other Nickelodeon stars in the docuseries. This sparked backlash, with Bell calling out the group for their insensitivity on X (formerly Twitter).
Werkheiser later apologized to Bell and other affected stars, acknowledging the gravity of the allegations made on the docuseries. "I was being an idiot today. No way around it. I feel horrible that my dumbass was even speaking about this without seeing it. I watched Quiet On Set tonight and am horrified by the gravity of what Drake and others shared. Truly heartbroken about what my fellow actors went through. I can't believe they weren't protected. I'm sorry for compounding any hurt," he wrote on X.
According to the docuseries, Bell suffered extensive sexual abuse by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck, beginning at age 15. His testimony led to Peck's conviction in 2004. The docuseries also detailed allegations of abuse and workplace toxicity from former child stars, crew, and writers who worked on Nickelodeon shows during Dan Schneider's reign.
Schneider has denied allegations of inappropriate behavior and toxicity on set, while Nickelodeon has stated that it investigates all formal complaints and prioritizes the well-being of its employees and children.
