AceShowbiz - Ross Duffer has separated from his wife Leigh Janiak. According to a new report, the "Stranger Things" creator's spouse filed for divorce from him on Friday, February 23 to end their nine-year marriage.

In the new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Leigh cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split. As for the date of separation, the 44-year-old said it is TBD.

Child custody and child support will not be an issue for the former couple since they do not have any kids. However, the Ohio-born film director and screenwriter is asking for spousal support.

Ross and Leigh got married in January 2015. They first met back in 2006 at a Los Angeles production company, where Leigh, who's known for helming horror projects like "Honeymoon" and "The Fear Street Trilogy", was an assistant to the producer and Ross was an intern.

News of Ross and Leigh's separation came shortly after the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things" began production. Filming was previously scheduled for 2023 but was delayed due to the Hollywood strikes. Scripts had been finalized, but Ross and his twin brother Matt Duffer chose to postpone it as they wanted writers on set while filming.

The siblings, who also co-wrote and co-directed a 2015 horror mystery titled "Hidden", first created "Stranger Things" nearly a decade ago. The first season of the hit Netflix series premiered in July 2016, while the second season was released the following year in October 2017. As for the third season, it premiered on Netflix in July 2019, while the fourth was released in May 2022.

Details about "Stranger Things" fifth and final season haven't been unveiled yet. However, it was said that the first episode is titled "The Crawl".
