AceShowbiz - Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt has apparently snubbed her father Brad Pitt in public. After reportedly being estranged from the actor following her parents' divorce, the 18-year-old seemingly dropped her dad's last name during a sorority ceremony.
On Wednesday, November 16, a video went viral of Zahara joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha organization at Spelman College. In the clip which was posted online by Essence, she put on a dramatic show to introduce herself.
The teen enthusiastically came forward from a line of her sorority sisters to take the center stage. Wearing a black midi dress, she said, "My name is Zahara Marley Jolie," while shaking her hair and performing a series of moves.
"Coming all the way from the Golden State in the city that is full of angels, Los Angeles, California ... I am this line's number seven," she continued to loud cheers from her peers, before returning to her line.
In the comments section of Essence's Instagram post, Zahara received praises for embracing her "roots." One of the commenters wrote, "Girl! She found her tribe.. Angelina did a great job. Culture and dynamics."
Another weighed in, "This makes me want to cry. This baby girl was raised insuch a way that she could connect as much as possible to her roots. That is soooo commendable." A third similarly added, "Love that she representing her roots with the Shoa Oromo dance."
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the first historically black sorority. In August 2022, Angelina Jolie went emotional as she dropped Zahara off at Spelman College in Atlanta. The Oscar-winning actress also made a trip to Spelman for homecoming in October last year.
Brad, meanwhile, previously gushed about his "smart" daughter when she was about to enter college. "[Zahara's] going to flourish even more at college. It's an exciting and beautiful time to find her own way and pursue her interests. I'm so proud," the "Bullet Train" actor told Vanity Fair in August 2022. "Where does the time go, right? They grow up too fast. It brings a tear to the eye."
