In a new interview, the former 'Fuller House' star also reveals that he couldn't remember being on the set of 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' due to his excessive drinking.

AceShowbiz - John Stamos has admitted to "disrespecting" his childhood following his arrest. When making an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show", the "Big Shot" star reflected on his arrest for DUI alcohol in Beverly Hills back in 2015.

In the Tuesday, October 24 episode of the TV program, the 60-year-old actor recalled, "Seeing myself there in handcuffs, I was like, 'That's not the kid that my parents raised.' My parents were good and I was disrespecting my childhood because it was beautiful, everything I learnt from my parents."

John went on to recount what happened following the arrest. "So I went home and you know what I did? I drank another bottle of wine by myself," he said. "And then I realized, I was just with Rita Wilson and [Nia Vardalos] in Greece, and I realized, 'I forgot that the next day [after the arrest].' They said, 'Oh, you got to go to Toronto, you're in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2'.' I'm like, 'What? I was [hammered] and I don't remember being on that set.' "

John revealed that he later on went to rehab at Cirque Lodge in Utah. "As soon as I came back from Toronto, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', my sisters were there and my agents, and everybody was like, 'Okay! It's time.' It wasn't even an intervention, it was like, 'We packed your bags, you're going.' " About the rehab itself, he shared, "I went for 30 days, and I just knew it was time. That's it. I've not had a drink since eight years ago."

Noting that his parents were alcoholics "but they were functioning," John said about his alcoholism, "It's hereditary, and if you poke at it long enough then it attacks you like a monster, and that's what happened to me." While referring to his 2004 split from ex-wife Rebecca Romijn, he elaborated, "But it was the combination of the divorce, and then my dad died and then it just kind of went down and then my mom died, and I just hit rock bottom."

The former "Fuller House" star additionally confessed, "I could stop for a few days, I could stop for a week, but I would do a gig and then at the end, I would reward myself. A lot of it was I was very lonely, so I found myself... if I drank, I would be with these people that if I was sober I would never be with."
