The 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star takes to Instagram to reflect on how her late mom Kathleen Richards was a fan of the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' songstress, who died on July 26.

AceShowbiz - Kathy Hilton was among celebrities who paid tribute to Sinead O'Connor, who passed away at the age of 56 on Wednesday, July 26. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star took to Instagram to reflect on how her late mom Kathleen Richards was a fan of the singer.

Underneath an Instagram post about Sinead's shocking death, Kathy wrote, "The last 3 days of my Mothers life Sinead OConnors music was all she listened to." Her comment, however, garnered attention from a user, who criticized Kathy's mom's music preference.

"why would you play music of some whack job who walked with the devil on earth for your dying mom who's [sic] would I'm sure prefer to go to heaven ?? Seems odd," one critic replied. In her response, Kathy noted that her mom, who died of breast cancer in March 2002, likely had "no knowledge" of Sinead's alleged beliefs. She added, "She liked the music leave my dead Mother alone."

Kathy Hilton defended her late mom for liking Sinead O'Connor.

The naysayer seemingly referred to the "Nothing Compares 2 U" songstress' criticism of the alleged sexual abuse of children within the Catholic church. The Grammy-winning musician also faced backlash for slamming Pope John Paul II during her performance on "Saturday Night Live" back in October 1992. That resulted in her being banned from NBC for life and booed off of several stages thereafter.

Sinead's family confirmed her passing in a statement on Wednesday. "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead," the statement read. "Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

The details surrounding Sinead's death have yet to be revealed. However, it came more than a week after she let out a heartbreaking post about her son, who died by suicide at 17 in 2022.

"Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul," Sinead penned on July 17 on a now-deleted Twitter account, according to PEOPLE. "We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him."
