AceShowbiz - Sergey Brin's ex has finally broken her silence on her alleged affair with Elon Musk. When sitting down with PEOPLE, Nicole Shanahan insisted that there was nothing romantic going on between her and the Tesla founder.

"Did Elon and I have sex, like it was a moment of passion, and then it was over? No," the 37-year-old told the magazine. "Did we have a romantic relationship? No. We didn't have an affair."

Nicole said she turned to Elon because of Neuralink, his neurotechnology company. "It was a conversation that was very meaningful about life and how people show up for one another," she elaborated. That's why Nicole feels it's "unfair" to be "painted with such a massive scarlet letter for it."

Nicole and Elon grew close after her ex Sergey helped fund Tesla. "There's a community of friendship involving not just Sergey and Elon but many other people in the tech world - investors, founders, really big thinkers, dreamers and doers," she explained. "Elon was another person in this group of people."

Though so, the California-based attorney made it clear that her friendship with the Space X co-founder wasn't as close as the ones she shares with her female friends. "My girlfriends that I've known for 10, 15 years that we're like sisters to each other? No, it's not that relationship - but I would call it a collegial environment," she shared.

Elon herself has denied the affair rumors, which was brought up by the Wall Street Journal. Taking to Twitter, he declared, "This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I've only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic. Haven't even had sex in ages (sigh)."
