During an interview, the former news anchor on 'Today' recalls feeling really broken, weak, tired, sluggish and sick after undergoing some surgeries to prevent cancer.

AceShowbiz - Jenna Wolfe apparently had "brutal" months. The former news anchor on "Today" detailed her unpleasant experience undergoing hysterectomy and double mastectomy procedures after calling it quits with her former partner Stephanie Gosk.

The 49-year-old opened up about the ordeal in an interview with PEOPLE which was published on Monday, July 3. She admitted, "It's been a really brutal couple of months. The way I see myself has always been strong, strong, strong. And I felt broken. I felt really broken and weak and tired and sluggish and sick. And I was hurting and I hated the feeling."

During the chat, Jenna told the outlet that her mother had Stage 3 breast cancer and lymph node cancer which led to her having to undergo several surgeries to prevent cancer. "She endured chemo, radiation, loss of her hair and fingernails," she said of her mother. "My mom sailed through the mastectomy, sailed through the hysterectomy. Not a complication, no extra pain. She took two Tylenol after the mastectomy and that was it. I was like, 'Well, if you did it, I am going to breeze through this. I'm in tremendous shape.' "

She went on to recall undergoing hysterectomy and double mastectomy, "I was in excruciating pain, doubled over for 10 days." She explained, "I've had really bad complications with both surgeries. So there was no correlation between the shape that I was in and how the surgeries went."

"I started bleeding really badly, and we didn't know why. And I had to go to the ER, but nobody was here to stay home with them," she continued. "And I had to leave them alone. Steph eventually came over."

Jenna stated that the procedures happened after she and her former spouse of 10 years Stephanie decided to separate back in September 2021. On what happened at that time, she recalled, "COVID was really tough, because we both worked from home." Jenna and Stephanie had to do live shootings from their midtown Manhattan apartment for Fox Sports and NBC respectively.

She went on to joke, "There's a lot of beautiful ego that comes with one person being on television." She added, "But when there's two people on television, plus both kids trying to do Zoom school in a Manhattan apartment, there's just no space anywhere."

"We decided after that, in order to preserve the relationship, it was better that Steph moved out," she said. Jenna further noted that the two of them are "still great friends" and "still loving parents" to their daughters, 9-year-old Harper and 8-year-old Quinn.
