AceShowbiz - "The Idol" and The Weeknd face more backlash after the second episode of the HBO series aired on Sunday night, June 11. The episode left viewers horrified as it featured an x-rated sex scene involving the singer's character Tedros.
In the said episode, Tedros could be seen making some NSFW dirty talk to Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp. He told the vulnerable pop star to "f**kin' stretch that tiny little p***y" while she stuck her fingers in her mouth. He also said, "Make that throat wet for me," and "Imagine my tongue on your p***y - my fat tongue."
The backlash came almost immediately, slamming The Weeknd, who co-creates the show in addition to starring on it. "someone put the entire sex scene from the idol and.. let's just say I lost respect for the weeknd," one critic wrote on Twitter. "I really need Abel to get dragged for this nasty scene in The Idol," another user said, referring to the "Blinding Lights" hitmaker, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
"I'm sorry I don't care what you do but doing it on tv especially GRAPHICALLY is weird," someone else added. There were also those who criticized Lily-Rose for her "comically bad" acting.
Despite the criticism, Lily-Rose appeared to be proud of her involvement on "The Idol". After the second episode aired, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis filled her Instagram Stories with clips and trailers from episode 2. "Episode 2, out now [heart emoji]," she wrote.
She additionally left the message she posted when "The Idol" premiered at the top of her feed, which said, "I can't put into words how I'm feeling right now! This show and the people I was lucky enough to make it with mean everything to me. Shooting it was the most special experience I've ever had, and I thank my lucky stars every day for the most beautiful little family we all built together."
"My idol fam you know who you are - I love you guys so much. Sam and Abel, thank you for letting me be your Jocelyn. I'm still pinching myself that you picked me. Thank you for making my dreams come true, I love you both forever. Can't wait for you guys to meet our family…. Xoxoxoxo," she concluded.
