The 57-year-old femcee makes the revelation on 'The Tamron Hall Show' but she doesn't mention the name of the person who made the request during the height of her career.

AceShowbiz - Cheryl James dropped a major bombshell in a recent interview. When appearing on "The Tamron Hall Show", the Salt-N-Pepa member claimed she was "asked to have an abortion" for the sake of her career.

"I don't think I've ever said this out loud, oooh Tamron! I was actually asked to have an abortion - I won't say by who - but to your point, yeah, you just have to know that it's something that you're capable of handling if you want a kid and you want to have a career," Salt divulged. "And it's definitely harder.

Ignoring the request might be Salt's best decision since she enjoyed motherhood. The 57-year-old, who shares two children with ex-husband Gavin Wray, added, "Having my daughter, besides finding Jesus, is the best thing that I've ever experienced, my kids... Like, I needed that lil' baby in my life, you know? She kept me company on the road."

Salt appeared in the interview with her bandmate Sandra Denton a.k.a. Pepa. When host Tamron told the hip-hop duo that there are critics who said women can't balance motherhood while having successful careers, Pepa asked, "They still sayin' that?"

"And that was why we are true to who we are. They could recognize 'cause we wanted to be moms and we was moms. We said, 'We can do it' and whatever came my way, I handled it, which was taking the good with the bad … 'cause someone has to do it!" she continued. "When they think it can't, they panic, the labels and people. 'Oh my god, how are you gonna? The sales! Sales, sales!' But you know, we did it."

Salt-N-Pepa is among the acts to join LL Cool J's "The F.O.R.C.E. (Frequencies of Real Creative Energy) Live" tour, which is set to begin in June. Other artists to be featured on the trek are The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Z-Trip, Queen Latifah, Rakim, Common, MC Lyte, Method Man & Redman, Big Boi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Ice T among others.
