The co-CEO of DC Studios says he's not recruiting Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the 'GOTG' trilogy, for the role of Superman in his upcoming movie as he's looking for someone younger.

AceShowbiz - As James Gunn is transitioning from MCU to DCEU, he is not going to take this well-known actor with him. The filmmaker, who has been confirmed to be working on "Superman Legacy" as his next directing project, has ruled out Chris Pratt for the upcoming movie.

Interviewed on the red carpet of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" premiere, Gunn stated that he's not recruiting the actor, who has played Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in the "GOTG" trilogy, to be the new Superman as he's looking for a younger actor for the role. "It's not Chris Pratt," he told Variety's Marc Malkin. "If he was a few years younger, maybe."

Gunn, however, claimed that he has "some really great choices" of actors that he's considering for the role. "The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he's also an alien," he explained his vision of the new Man of Steel. "It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug."

While Pratt will no be crossing over to DC World anytime soon, it doesn't mean that there's no chance of seeing Gunn working with a Marvel star. Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis in the "Guardians" movies, has admitted that she's eyeing a DC role and has been talking to Gunn about it.

"We've had conversations and were making plans already. But nothing is confirmed yet," the "Thor: Love and Thunder" star shared. She won't reveal which character that she dreams of playing, but teases that she's always "thought the character was f**king cool."

Gunn gave a positive update on "Superman Legacy" earlier this month. He took to his social media pages on April 18 to share a picture of the script to announce that pre-production on the film has officially begun.

"I'm honored to be a part of the legacy. And what better day than #SupermanAnniversary Day to dive fully into early pre-production on #SupermanLegacy?" he wrote in the caption, adding, "Costumes, production design, and more now up and running."

The film marks the first project in the new DC Universe as supervised by Gunn and his DC Studios co-head Peter Safran. The movie is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
