AceShowbiz - Jimin has once again left his mark as a solo artist following multiple achievements as a member of BTS (Bangtan Boys). His single "Like Crazy" has debuted atop Billboard Hot 100, following his album "Face" debut at No. 2 on Billboard 200 albums chart.
The Hot 100 start for "Like Crazy" was largely driven by sales, with five versions available during the chart's tracking week. It sold 254,000 song downloads and CD singles combined and drew 10 million streams and 64,000 radio airplay audience impressions in its first week (March 24-30), making it the bestselling song in the U.S. for the week and also the largest sales frame of 2023 so far.
The No. 1 debut makes Jimin the first member of superstar South Korean group BTS to lead the chart. He also sets history as the first South Korean solo artist to top the Hot 100 in the chart's nearly 65-year history. PSY previously held the record as the highest-charting South Korean soloist on the chart with his 2012 hit "Gangnam Style", which peaked at No. 2.
After the news broke on Monday, April 3, Jimin celebrated it by sharing a screenshot of the rankings on Instagram. "Love u all,," he captioned it, prompting his bandmates RM to reply with fire emojis and J-Hope leaving several purple emojis in the comments section.
These two members also congratulated Jimin on his feat via their respective Instagram Story. "I'm proud @j.m," RM posted along with a screenshot of the chart's rankings. J-Hope added in his own Story, "This is history. Congrats."
RM is credited as a co-writer of "Like Crazy", meaning that Jimin's Hot 100 debut gives him his fourth Hot 100 No. 1 as a writer, while it's Jimin's first as a writer. RM has also been credited as a writer on BTS' Hot 100 No. 1 tracks "My Universe", "Butter", and "Life Goes On".
"Like Crazy" is Jimin's second unaccompanied solo entry on the Hot 100 after the lead single "Set Me Free Pt. 2" debuted at No. 30 last week.
