AceShowbiz - Tems couldn't care less of criticism over her view-blocking dress at the 2023 Oscars. The "Essence" singer, who was dragged online for wearing a dramatic white Lever Couture dress at the annual ceremony, got playful when responding to the backlash.

On Monday, March 13, the 27-year-old shared on Instagram several pictures of her rocking the white gown. The said dress featured a structured veil that wrapped around her shoulders and formed a sculptural halo above her head.

In the accompaniment of the post, she simply wrote, "Uh Ohh!" She also uploaded the pictures on Twitter and simply captioned them, "Oops," adding a smiling emoji.

Fans applauded Tems for his perfect clapback. One person in particular exclaimed, "Block their view!" while another gushed, "You're way up there and I'm happy you been knew it."

"Block them love… They don't deserve to see front," a third commented. A different user replied, "Your view is the only view that matters. Someone else, in the meantime, raved, "You looked beautiful."

Tems came under fire on the night of this year's Academy Awards. "Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud," one person tweeted at the time.

"Who has to sit behind that woman with the white veil," one person asked, calling the musician "rude." The other individual opined, "She looks stunning but perhaps they could have made the top bit detachable."

Tems, who was nominated for Best Original Song for the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" track "Lift Me Up", described her Oscars look as "outside the box." She told Harper's Bazaar, "Two years ago, I would've said no to this dress. But it’s my first Oscars - I am going to go all out. I really wanted to make the most of the day."

"The dress is also my way of celebrating my work and the people around me, celebrating my country, and celebrating the people that are rooting for me," she added. This dress says, 'Yes, yes, I am here!' "
