AceShowbiz - Mark Curry had an unpleasant stay at one hotel in Colorado. The comedian, who was in town for a comedy tour, shared a 26-minute video on Instagram in which he claimed he was racially profiled by two staffers.
In the clip, Mark could be seen drinking a cup of coffee in the lobby of the Mining Exchange A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa. While he was sitting there, a man who identified himself as the head of security approached the comic and asked if he was a hotel guest.
The unnamed man refused to leave until he could determine that Mark was indeed a guest. Annoyed, the latter said to the camera, "If you're Black and you're in Colorado Springs, you can't be in the lobby. Wow! This is crazy, isn't it?"
There was another employee standing next to the first staffer and he accused Mark of using the "race card." The 61-year-old eventually approached the frontliner and told her that he would like to contact the police on the two men for "harassing" him. The woman, however, told Mark that the man was one of their engineers who inquired if the actor was a guest "for safety."
In the caption, Mark wrote, "Black man and a Hotel Lobby it's impossible that he has a room here. No, I have a suite !He walks up to me with no badge on. I don't know who this man is. And asked to see my hotel key Wyndham racism." He then spilled, "719-323-2000 call them pleaseJhon Crab head of security and head of maintenance at the same time."
A hotel representative has addressed the incidient, saying that the Mining Exchange is "committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all guests and employees." The statement added, "We deeply regret this incident and have reached out to Mr. Curry to offer not only our sincere apologies but a full refund of his stay and an invitation to return, at no cost, anytime in the future."
The hotel is also "using this opportunity to revisit training with our staff, helping to ensure all interactions are reflective of our company values," the message continued.
