AceShowbiz - Vince Vaughn may be in dire straits after a series of box office flops. The actor, who was once A-list star with a number of box office hits, has reportedly begged his famous pals to help him save his near-dead career.
According to Radar Online's sources, the 52-year-old has reached out to his former girlfriend and "The Break-Up" co-star Jennifer Aniston in hopes of securing good parts. The two started dating in 2005 after starring in the rom-com drama, but they broke up in November 2006.
"Vince was big when he went out with Jen in 2005 and 2006, but their fortunes have changed dramatically," dished a source, adding that the two remain friendly despite their split. Vince allegedly believes Jen's Echo Film production company has plenty of projects he could easily plug into.
"It makes Jen sad to see how far Vince has fallen and she wants to help - so she may be his best hope!" the source added.
In his alleged "desperate" attempt to survive in the industry, Vince reportedly has also asked Ben Stiller to work together for a sequel to their 2004's film "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story". "Vince is desperate to get his career back on track and he thinks the FASTEST way is to revisit a beloved film they made together," another source claimed, though his rep has denied the report.
Vince was one of the biggest stars of the early 2000s, with massive hits like "Old School" and "Wedding Crashers". His last comedy hit was 2009's "Couples Retreat". He has since worked with a number of big stars, namely Kevin James in "The Dilemma", Ben in "The Watch (2012)" and Owen Wilson in "Delivery Man", but they all tanked at the box office. His 2020 film "Freaky" did modestly well, but that was the only bright spot on his resume for years now.
Meanwhile, Vince has hinted at considering to make a "Dodgeball" sequel. "They've always talked about these things forever and I had an idea that was fun and the studio likes it, so we'll see where it goes," he told The Hollywood Reporter at the Wednesday, November 30 premiere of his new comedy "Christmas with the Campbells". "I think Ben is open to doing it, I think he's in the same boat as me actually which is if it's a really fun and great idea then that's fun, but if it's just something to go do it again then why?"
