The 'Dancing With a Stranger' crooner once revealed that they experienced 'body trauma' when they were a kid and body image issue forced them to starve themselves ahead of photo shoots.

AceShowbiz - Sam Smith is telling the world that nothing can stop them loving themselves. The "Unholy" hitmaker looked good and confident when posing for a shirtless mirror selfie amid their battle with body confidence.
Making use of their Instagram account on Thursday, November 24, the 30-year-old artist posted a few snapshots from their trip to New York City, including a racy changing room mirror selfie. In the said photo, they could be seen wearing nothing but denim trousers and socks.
Sam placed their arm on their head and tilted their hip for the photo. By going shirtless, they put their tattoos, including the bird inking on their arm and the equality tattoo on their finger, on full display.
Sam also shared a selfie from their waterfront walk in the bustling city. The "Stay With Me" crooner rocked a black leather jacket and vintage-style sunglasses as they flashed the peace sign, covering the bottom half of their face. "giving Hannah Horvath," they captioned the post.

Back in 2019, Sam revealed their battle with body confidence and how they used to starve themselves ahead of a photoshoot. "In the past, if I have ever done a photo shoot with so much as a T-shirt on, I have starved myself for weeks in advance and then picked and prodded at every picture and then normally taken the picture down," the "Dancing With a Stranger" singer shared.
At the time, Sam shared a shirtless selfie and said, "Yesterday I decided to fight the f**k back." Discussing their motivations behind the snap, Sam continued, "Reclaim my body and stop trying to change this chest and these hips and these curves that my mum and dad made and love so unconditionally."
"Some may take this as narcissistic and showing off but if you knew how much courage it took to do this and the body trauma I have experienced as a kid you wouldn't think those things," they further explained.
