The Fenty Beauty founder sings of the love of the people dearest to her in the moving tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman for the soundtrack of the upcoming Marvel movie

AceShowbiz - The long wait for Rihanna's new song is finally over. After a long hiatus, the Grammy Award-winning artist made a music comeback with "Lift Me Up", the first track to emerge from Marvel's upcoming movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever".

A tribute to the life and legacy of the late actor Chadwick Boseman, the song is an emotional ode to the people dearest to her. "Burning in a hopeless dream/ Hold me when you go to sleep/ Keep me in the warmth of your love/ When you depart, keep me safe/ Safe and sound," Rih sings in the first verse. She continues in the chorus, "Lift me up/ Hold me down/ Keep me close/ Safe and sound."

The song was released in full on midnight Friday, October 28 along with a visualizer for the track. The video features the Black Panther mask that is zoomed in and out over the moving foggy background.

"Lift Me Up" marks Rihanna's first solo single in six years. Ushering "in the next era of the Barbadian beauty's iconic career," the song was written by Tems, Ludwig Goransson, Rihanna and "Black Panther" and its sequel director Ryan Coogler.

"After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I've lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them," Tems said in a statement issued ahead of the song's release. "Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor."

The song is released by Rihanna's own Westbury Road label in partnership with Roc Nation, Def Jam Recordings and Hollywood Records. The full soundtrack of the movie will be available on November 4, but the details remain vague.

Besides her contribution to the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" soundtrack, Rih is set to perform at Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show on February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium.
