AceShowbiz - Cheryl Burke is seemingly ready to hang up her dancing shoes. In a new interview, the professional dancer for "Dancing with the Stars" discussed how being pregnant in the future will affect her appearance on the hit ABC dancing competition.
"If I do another season of 'Dancing with the Stars', I just need to do it," she shared in a new episode of the "Allison Interviews" podcast. "When the time comes, whether this will be my last season or not, I don't know. Or if I don't, I can then consume my brain with those thoughts."
The 38-year-old went on to get candid about her own struggle with body image and body dysmorphia and how it affected her internal debate about possibly getting pregnant. "I would prefer not to have to put myself in a dance costume and just let myself gain weight. I do believe I will start to love my body more when I don't have to shove my ass into a dance costume. So, right now it is on hold," she said.
During the interview, Cheryl also made it clear that her life purpose "is not to teach celebrities how to dance." She added, "Whenever a celebrity lashes out at me, it's easier now for me to have compassion and empathy for that person, but it's still f**ked."
Recalling the "egotistical narcissists" she's encountered over the last 25 seasons, the dancer claimed, "It's still really hard to dry hump somebody when you feel disrespected, put it that way, really hard! And you can't walk out because we both have a job to do, you know? " She added, "Nobody understands the show and how intense this show is. I compare this show to 'Survivor' except we get water and shelter. It is full on."
Earlier this month, Cheryl talked about her struggles with mental health and sobriety on her own podcast. She revealed that the desire to drink again has "definitely been on my mind a lot more than normal," prompting her to talk to her therapist.
She realized it was because she hasn't been active with her 12-step program and hasn't completed the fourth step because "I seem to be stuck on for like the longest time now." Cheryl, however, promised that she is going to "slowly get back into it."
Back in 2021, she shared that being public with her sobriety journey was "scary." Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she said, "It's been interesting for me to actually feel the feelings that are happening. It's almost been a whole new experience, in a good way. It's almost like I have a new love and passion for 'Dancing with the Stars', because seeing everything for how it is, and it's really nice."
