The Duchess of York insists the British monarch and former mother-in-law is doing fine following her most recent health issues which prompted the royal to take a hiatus.

AceShowbiz - 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth is "doing well" after her recent health issues, according to the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.

The "Her Heart for a Compass" author, who was previously married to the monarch's embattled son Prince Andrew, and still lives with the royal, has assured everyone The Queen is just fine.

"She is doing well. She is my icon. When I see her, I pinch myself to remind myself how lucky I am. She is an extraordinary woman," Sarah told Paris Match magazine.

The Queen, whose husband Prince Philip died earlier this year (21), aged 99, carried out her first in-person engagement in nearly a month with General Sir Nick Carter, the chief of the defence staff at Windsor Castle, on Wednesday (17Nov21).

However, she had to send Prince Charlies in her place for the Remembrance Sunday ceremony at London's Cenotaph (13Nov21), after spraining her back, and also missed a Church of England assembly on Tuesday for the first time in 51 years.

Earlier this week, Prince Charles insisted his mother was feeling "alright" while carrying out an engagement during his and wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall's tour of Jordan.

Charles told reporters, "She's alright thank you very much. Once you get to 95 it's not quite as easy as it used to be. It's bad enough at 73."

In October (21), the monarch spent a night in hospital after cancelling a trip to Northern Island on her doctors' orders.
