The 65-year-old 'Gone Girl' actress has been hospitalized with a serious brain injury after she was sent flying across the street following a hit-and-run accident.

AceShowbiz - "Gone Girl" star Lisa Banes is in a critical condition in a New York City hospital after she was struck in a hit-and-run crash on Friday evening (04Jun21).

The actress was crossing a road in Manhattan when a driver on a motorised scooter ran a red light and collided with her, sending the 65 year old flying across the road, according to New York Police Department officials.

Banes suffered a "traumatic brain injury" and was taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital, where she remains in a serious condition, her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, told Deadline.com.

Authorities are currently searching for the suspect, who sped off after the incident.

Banes had been visiting the Big Apple from Los Angeles for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and was thought to be on her way to her alma mater, The Juilliard School, and Lincoln Center Theater when she was injured.

Her manager, David Williams, told CNN via email, "We are all just hoping she pulls through."

Broadway and screen veteran Banes previously appeared alongside Tom Cruise in "Cocktail" and Western movie "Young Guns" while her other credits include appearances on TV shows "Nashville", "The Orville", and "Masters of Sex".

"We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa," her wife Kathryn told the Daily News. "If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call police."

According to a witness, "people were filming her, not helping her" before she was identified as Lisa Banes.
