The former 'General Hospital' actress is recuperating after she went under the knife for a brain surgery to remove 'a very large cyst that had split into two.'

AceShowbiz - Actress Kirsten Storms has undergone brain surgery.

The "General Hospital" star took to her Instagram Stories to update fans on her current situation and explained why she had to have surgery in the first place.

"I've not really spoken about this much, or at all, actually; less than 48 hours ago, I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace," she shared. "It was on the lower portion of my brain."

Kirsten said her former co-star, Emme Rylan, is taking care of her for the time being, until "I get to my at-home nurse."

Opening up more about the surgery, she continued, "What they had to drain and remove was not cancer; I want to clarify that right now before the Internet, like, goes crazy wild with rumours about this."

"I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctor said it was, like, so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull."

"I will be on the mend for the next several weeks. I will be back at work when this is over with," insisted the actress.

Kirsten Storms departed "General Hospital" in 2011 following endometriosis diagnosis while Emme Rylan still stayed on the daytime soap opera last year.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the two former TV co-stars kept in touch online.

"Happy Valentine's Day to my partner in crime, my ride or die but no ride to the airport, my reason for feeling no guilt over purchasing just..one..more..ball..of yarn. There is no one else I'd rather sit beside while struggling with technology, talk to before my first cup of coffee at an unGodly hour or work alongside at GH and in life. My love for you runs deep, girl," Kirsten paid tribute to Emme last year.

They also did a live streaming on Instagram in July 2020, bonding over their knitting hobby.
