Offering an update on her condition post-surgery, the actress portraying Maxie Jones on 'General Hospital' expresses her gratitude to family, friends and incredible 'work family.'

AceShowbiz - Actress Kirsten Storms has shared more details on her health after undergoing brain surgery.

The "General Hospital" star took to her Instagram Stories last week (ends June 6) to update fans on her current situation and explained why she had to have surgery in the first place.

And in a follow-up post, Kirsten explained she was forced to go under the knife after her doctor found "a very large cyst that had split into two" after she sought treatment for severe neck pain.

"First, thank you for all of the well wishes I've received over the last few days," said the 37-year-old star, explaining she dealt with "random health issues" in recent years, which she ultimately put down to ageing or medication side effects.

But she said her "amazingly thorough orthopedist" ordered an MRI scan, at which point medical professionals "stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain."

Admitting she's relieved her situation "wasn't more serious and that [she] had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it," Kirsten added, "I'm not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous..."

"But I'm immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible 'work family' who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I've been feeling a lot of emotions."

And while she noted that medical staff "shaved a portion of [her] head" to perform the procedure, the screen star urged, "Please no comments if you don't like my hair. It's temporary."

In her previous post, Kirsten assured fans the cyst wasn't cancerous, as she explained her former co-star, Emme Rylan, is taking care of her for the time being, until "I get to my at-home nurse."
