The former Bond girl turned to cosmetic surgery to plump up her lips in her 50s, but has since admitted her regret because it destroyed her looks and ruined her face.

AceShowbiz - Former Bond girl Britt Ekland regrets resorting to cosmetic surgery to plump up her lips, because it's "ruined" her face.

The former pin-up agreed to have an "experimental" filler called Artecoll, made from bovine collagen, pumped into her lips by a doctor in Paris, France almost three decades ago, but the beauty procedure turned into a nightmare and she has since tried to have the substance dissolved with the use of "excruciatingly painful" corticosteroid injections.

Now Ekland, 78, has admitted turning to cosmetic treatments to try and enhance her looks will always be her biggest regret.

"It destroyed my looks and ruined my face," she told Platinum Magazine, according to The Daily Mail. "It was the biggest mistake of my life."

"I did all of that in my 50s, but wouldn't consider it again," she added of the fillers. "I have no desire to look any different than I am."

Reminiscing about her natural beauty after shooting to fame in 1974's "The Man With the Golden Gun", Ekland said, "When I look at photographs of myself before I had it done, I looked very good. I can see that now, but I couldn't see it at the time."

The Swedish actress now wants to age as gracefully as possible. "I feel great now, better than I have for many years... Getting older happens to everyone," she shared. "It's pointless complaining about it or wishing you could change."

"We're all going in one direction and there is nothing we can do about that... It's just about looking after yourself while on that journey."
