The 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' hitmaker surprised many by filing for divorce from her husband of almost seven years, Brandon Blackstock, after spending weeks self-isolating together in Montana.

AceShowbiz - Kelly Clarkson is getting support from an unlikely source in the wake of her shocking separation from Brandon Blackstock. Shortly after news broke out that the "American Idol" alum has filed for divorce, her half-brother Erik Clarkson claimed that he is considering to mend their own estranged relationship.

Reacting to Kelly's marital woes, Erik told In Touch, "I'm so sorry about the news." He went on to state that at the moment, the "My Life Would Suck Without You" hitmaker is going to "need all the support she can get." Therefore, while they have not spoken, he is thinking of reaching out to her.

Erik, whose father Stephen Michael Clarkson was estranged from Kelly when he died in 2018, further reasoned, "She is still my sister." He continued saying, "I wouldn't mind speaking to her to get our family back together," before adding, "I'd love to give her all the support she needs."

Kelly tied the knot with Brandon in 2013. Since then, they have two children of their own a five-year-old daughter, River, and a four-year-old son, Remington. Since the novel coronavirus hit the country, the "Miss Independent" singer and her family self-isolated themselves in their remote Montana cabin.

The quarantine situation, however, was said to worsen their marital issues. "They've grown apart over the years and being in lockdown together heightened their problems," an insider told Life & Style. On June 4, the current judge of "The Voice" filed for divorce in Los Angeles. Court documents uncovered that she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

Before news of the split broke out, Kelly put two of her homes up for sale. In December 2019, the multiple Grammy winner offered up her Hendersonville, Tennessee estate with a prize tag of $7,499,000. Five months later, she listed her Los Angeles house in the Encino neighborhood for $9,995,000.

In regards to Erik, Kelly's half-brother has previously accused her of refusing to reconcile with their late father before he died. "My father's last words were that he wanted all of his kids at his side, but Kelly didn't show up," he was quoted as saying. At the time, he also claimed that their father "wanted to explain to Kelly what happened with their relationship and that he was remorseful and wanted forgiveness."
