The family-friendly animated movie joins 'Frozen II' and 'The Simpsons' as the top three choices of viewers on the Disney streaming site during coronavirus outbreak.

AceShowbiz - Tom Holland's animated Pixar movie "Onward" has made up for its poor performance at the box office by leading the "Trending Titles" on the Disney+ on demand streaming service.

The movie, which also stars Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer, debuted atop the North American box office, but scored one of the Disney subsidiary's lowest opening weekends as people began to avoid theatres amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In its second weekend in theatres, it remained on top, but had the lowest turnout in 20 years, earning just $10.5 million.

However, as the world went into lockdown amid the global health crisis, Disney uploaded the new movie onto the Disney+ streaming platform, and this week it comes out on top of the site's "Trending Titles" rundown.

According to the service, which reveals its most popular titles via email to subscribers, the show joins "Frozen II" and "The Simpsons" as the three top choices of viewers.

Other movies proving successful on Disney+ include Miley Cyrus' "The Last Song", "Toy Story", "The Lion King", and "Coco", while "The Mandalorian", "Sonny With a Chance", starring Demi Lovato, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex's "Elephant" are also among the top shows.

Disney's streaming service has amassed over 50 million paid subscribers since it debuted in the U.S. last November and in the U.K. in March, offering a library of content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
