In a social media post, the 'I Like It' hitmaker announces that she and the clothing brand will be giving away $1,000 every hour to those struggling to pay bills and to feed their families.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Cardi B and executives at clothing brand Fashion Nova are helping financially-strapped fans during the coronavirus pandemic by hosting a $1 million (£810,000) cash giveaway.

The "I Like It" hitmaker, who is a spokesmodel for the label, through which she launched her own collection, announced the news online on Wednesday (April 08), revealing $1,000 (£810) will be handed out every hour until the funds are gone.

In a post on Instagram, Cardi wrote, "Thank you guys for supporting me and @FashionNova, I teamed up with them to help those that have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs."

"#FashionNovaCARES & I are giving away $1,000 EVERY HOUR until we've given away $1 MILLION DOLLARS to those directly affected by this crisis. Tell us how the $1,000 can help you during these times. We'll be reading your submissions and selecting stories everyday so enter now by visiting www.FashionNova.com/Cares."

Cardi explained she will "personally" be reading through the entries to help choose 24 lucky winners each day.

Richard Saghian, founder and CEO of Fashion Nova, added in a statement to TMZ, "As a community-driven brand, we are inspired by the kindness and generosity of others and we wanted to do our part to help those in need."

The news emerges days after the hip-hop star, who has been vocal about her criticism of government officials' handling of the health crisis, donated 20,000 OWYN meal supplement drinks to first responders and healthcare workers in her native New York, which has become the epicentre of the U.S. COVID-19 outbreak.
