Jude Law's ex-wife revealed her 69-year-old mother has been fighting the virus, which is more deadly to the elderly than younger people, by posting a series of of old family photos on Instagram.

However, in her post Sadie, 54, shared the good news that Mary appears to be on her own after having to take on the disease in isolation.

"My mum @maryizabeth is on day 11 of CV and now beginning to slowly feel better," her post read. "We have all been so worried - she never likes to moan or cause anyone to worry..."

"But she got this illness quite bad and had to suffer alone- and but now she is showing she is getting slowly better will be a few days more but the DR says she is nearly there - so i myself can breath again.. mum : you have been sooo brave - i love you - as we all do.."

The actress turned fashion designer also thanked friends and family, including Jude, his wife Phillipa Coan and her first husband, Spandau Ballet rocker Gary Kemp, for dropping things off for her and keeping her mum in their thoughts.

Sadie also praised her son by Gary, Finlay, 29, as well as the three kids she shares with Jude, Rafferty, 23, Iris, 19, and Rudy, 17, for staying strong during the ordeal.
