AceShowbiz - Lin-Manuel Miranda has launched a $1 million (£770 million) scholarship programme to help underrepresented groups pursue stage careers.
The "Hamilton" creator has joined forces with bosses with at several New York theatre companies, including the National Theater Institute and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center for a six-semester programme aimed at providing students with the skills they need for a career in the arts.
As part of his The Miranda Family Fund, he will launch a 10-year $1 million commitment to provide scholarships.
In a statement, bosses at the organisation announced they are "helping to actively and permanently transform and diversify the American cultural landscape through investment in young artists and with the shared belief that the stories told and the artists who tell them should represent the diversity of the nation."
