AceShowbiz - Jessica Simpson's recent success as an author was made sweeter by her children's reactions. Days after "Open Book" landed at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, the "With You" hitmaker opened up about why she dared to call the memoir her best "accomplishment."
Met at the 2020 Create & Cultivate conference in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 22, the wife of former NFL athlete Eric Johnson admitted finding joy in making her three young children excited for and proud of her. "That pride that my children have of me, there is no better accomplishment," she told E! News.
Elaborating more on the statement, the "Blonde Ambition" star spilled, "I'm so proud to share this moment with my family, with my children. They're so excited, they're so in awe. 'Oh, that's what mommy was doing when she says she's writing a book.' Max was like, 'You wrote a chapter book, mom.' " She added, "It's just so cute, they're really proud of me."
Jessica further admitted that she "talked openly" to her children about a few points in her book, and let them read "some parts." About her openness in the memoir, the ex-wife of Nick Lachey said, "It's one of those things where it's all out there, I have nothing to hide, I'm not ashamed of anything. In my mistakes, now, I can own them, lead with them and show that I am not perfect and I don't want to be perfect."
Days earlier, the "I Wanna Love You Forever" songstress took to Instagram to express her joy for being able to share her success with her children. Along with a photo of her with 7-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son, she wrote, "The pure joy on Maxwell and Ace's sweet faces is the ultimate blessing I could ever ask for!!!"
"Open Book is now the #1 New York Times Best Seller for 2 weeks in a row in 2 categories! I must confess that I am completely shocked by this overwhelming honor, but nothing compares to the pride of your children," she continued. "I have realized that my greatest expectations weren't even great enough until now."
