Reflecting on the milestone he and his family didn't get to witness, the Detroit Lions player wrote on Instagram, 'We did not get the chance to hear your first words.'

AceShowbiz - Marvin Jones Jr. is closing out the year with the loss of an important family member. His youngest child, 6-month-old Marlo, passed away over the weekend, and the NFL star took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to the infant.

He didn't reveal Marlo's cause of death in the post, but admitted that he still found it "hard to believe" that the baby is no longer with him and his family. "You will always be in our hearts. We will always remember you," he wrote alongside a photo of Marlo smiling. "We did not get the chance to hear your first words. (It would've been in Spanish too.) We didn't get to see you run with your brothers and sisters, you ran with them with your eyes everyday."

He continued, "We know everything that We do from her on out will be with you. Every step we take, you will be with us. Whenever we have a bad day, We have to think of your smile. We miss you already buddy and will forever love you. Rest peacefully our sweet baby boy. You have gained your wings."

The Detroit Lions, Marvin's team, has also sent their condolences through a statement. "Earlier today, we were informed by Marvin and Jazmyn Jones about the sudden passing of their youngest son, Marlo," so the statement read. "The Detroit Lions fully support Marvin and Jazmyn during this extremely difficult time. Marvin and Jazmyn embody the true meaning of family, the example they set has made them an inspiration to so many in our community. We thank everyone for the outpouring support. On behalf of the Jones family, we ask that everyone respect the privacy of the matter at the time."

Besides Marlo, Marvin shares four other children with his wife Jazmyn: Marvin Jones III, 10, Mareon, 8, Murrell, 4, and Mya Love, 3.
