AceShowbiz - Officials in Hungary have withdrawn the country from competing in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.
Reports suggest authorities in the conservative government are not pleased with the competition's LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer)-friendly policies, and have decided not to participate in next year's event.
A spokesperson for Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who believes marriage is strictly between a man and a woman, has since dismissed the suggestion via Twitter, insisting an article detailing the claims on Hungarian outlet index.hu is "fake news".
However, the representative has yet to provide any other reason for the decision.
The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, in May (2020), following singer Duncan Laurence's victory at the Tel Aviv, Israel event earlier this year with his song "Arcade".
