AceShowbiz - Rappers aren't the only ones who can have a rap beef. NBA stars Shaquille O'Neal and Damian Lillard have been releasing diss tracks aimed towards each other after the latter claimed in an episode of "Joe Budden Podcast" that he's a better rapper than the Hall of Famer.
Suggesting that Shaq's rap success was more due to his career as a basketball player rather than his own lyrical skills, Damian said in the episode, "I think I rap better than Shaq. I think he was viewed as Shaq. People [weren't] looking at him like he was a real rapper. They was like, 'That's Shaq rapping,' so of course it was a big deal."
Shaq didn't take too long to hit back by releasing a diss track in the form of an Instagram video. The song itself found the retired athlete rapping that Damian is a lesser NBA player than Trevor Ariza, in addition to delivering bars that stated Damian would never be able to get on Stephen Curry (II) and Russell Westbrook's level.
He spitted, "Take your time to respond, there is no hurry/ You'll never be Westbrook, never be Curry," before adding, "What's in your wallet, American Express or Visa/ Talkin' like your Bron, You ain't even Trevor Ariza."
Damilan wasted no time to respond to the diss track with his own song. Titled "Reign Reign Go Away", the track featured the Trail Blazers star showing no mercy to Shaq as he went after every aspect of the latter's career. Among them were Shaq's shoes, his movie "Shaq-Fu" as well as his Cleveland Cavaliers years. He also name-dropped Kobe Bryant, rapping, "Kobe won you those rings though/ Nursery rhyme spitting, small car sitting/ Icy Hot poster boy, TNT snitching you big man hatin' mad at my existence/ Had a song with Bad Boy, no Jordan to the Pistons."
Shaq has yet to respond back.
