AceShowbiz - Reggae artist and actor Louie Rankin has died in a car crash.

Rankin, who was born and raised in Jamaica and arguably most famous for his role as Ox in the movie "Belly", passed away following a collision involving a transport truck and another vehicle in Ontario, Canada, according to TMZ.

News of his tragic death was confirmed in a tweet from the star's Twitter account, which read: "It saddens us to have to announce that The 'ORIGINAL DON DADA' 'Trail Blazer' the legend - Louie Ox Rankin passed away this morning!".

"May God keep his soul with his father, sister and neice in #heaven #amen #sipox. (sic)"

Louie Rankin's passing was announced on Twitter.

Rankin starred alongside fellow actors Nas and DMX in the 1998 crime drama, and went on to appear in movies such as "Shottas" in 2002, and "We Run These Streets" in 2014.

The star was also a Grammy Award-winning dancehall and reggae artist, best known for his 1992 track "Typewriter", and worked with stars such as DJ Khaled and DMX throughout his successful career.
