Despite only making their debut two years ago, the YG Entertainment group has become one of the greatest K-Pop acts of all time and continues to make history within the music industry.

AceShowbiz - Even though there are a lot of successful girl groups in the K-Pop industry, there aren't that many who can make it big in the United States. However, BLACKPINK is certainly not one of them. Despite only making their debut two years ago, the YG Entertainment group has become one of the greatest K-Pop acts of all time and continues to make history.

Ever since beginning their career in 2016, the group has seized global airwives with a strong fan base on social media. Their single "Ddu-Du, Ddu-Du" made them the highest-charting female K-Pop act ever in the U.S. following its debut at No. 55 on Billboard's Hot 100 last June. They are also the only K-Pop girl group to dominate YouTube's top 50 global artists.

Furthermore, they made several records after releasing their new EP "Kill This Love" along with the music video for its title track earlier this month. The visuals for "Kill This Love" broke the most-watched video record which was previously held by Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" visuals. Their music video garnered 56.7 million views within 24 hours after its release. As for the album, it debuted at No. 24 on Billboard 200 and became the highest-charting title by an all female K-Pop group.

Those were not the only things that BLACKPINK, which consisted of Jennie, Rose, Jisoo and Lisa, achieved. The four-piece act made history as they became the first K-Pop girl group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Their performance at the annual event was highly anticipated by a lot of people, with the name of the group trending on social media on the day of the performance.

Talking about reasons behind their global success, Lisa suggested that it had something to do with their multicultural background. While Lisa was born and raised in Thailand, Rose lived in Australia before coming to South Korea for training.

"As a group with a multicultural background, we have the advantage of being able to speak language freely," Lisa said. "I think it is a great advantage when communicating with fans abroad as well as in Korea. Our music seems to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of race, age and gender."
