The creative director of Chanel, who was said missing the Spring/Summer haute couture show in January because he was too 'tired', died in Paris at the age of 85.

AceShowbiz - Karl Lagerfeld has reportedly died at the age of 85.

The fashion giant, who has been at the helm of Chanel since 1983, has died in Paris, reports WWD. French publication Paris Match claims he passed away on Tuesday, February 19, after being rushed to hospital on Monday evening.

Concerns were recently raised over his health after Chanel bosses announced he was too "tired" to appear at the Spring/ Summer haute couture show in Paris in January and "asked Virginie Viard, director of the creative studio of the house, to represent him."

Lagerfeld was one of the most recognisable faces in fashion. As well as his work with the French fashion house, he also headed up womenswear and fur collections at Italian label Fendi and his own namesake brand.

Before his recent run of bad health, the designer, known for his long white hair and penchant for dark glasses, was as busy as ever, unveiling his debut menswear look for Fendi last month.

He also recently teamed with Pharrell Williams on a capsule collection for Chanel and model of the moment Kaia Gerber for his own Karl Lagerfeld label.

Fendi is scheduled to show its Fall/Winter 19 collection on Thursday during Milan Fashion Week, while Chanel will present its new collection during the final day of Paris Fashion Week on March 5.
