Though she has been subjected to constant criticism over her parenting choices, the wife of Dwyane Wade refuses to get dictated for what she should or should not do in raising her daughter.

AceShowbiz - Actress Gabrielle Union refuses to stand for people calling out her parenting choices on social media because she is determined to raise her child in her own way.

The star welcomed daughter Kaavia with husband Dwyane Wade via a surrogate in November (18), but she has received constant criticism from commenters, who have found fault with some of the aspects of her life as a mum that she has shared online.

The 46-year-old admits her openness with her personal life has left her vulnerable to opinions she doesn't appreciate.

"I had to hit the mummy shamers day one," she tells People magazine. "I'm going to do it my way. I'm sure I'm going to make all kinds of mistakes and when I ask for help, which I will, I would love to hear all y'all's advice. Everybody has been on my journey of pain and anguish and trauma, and I owe it to myself to enjoy every second of my joy."

Despite facing backlash, Gabrielle stands by her decision to publicly share her personal struggles, including her fertility issues, even though she doesn't understand why online users feel the need to repeatedly chime in.

"If you've been rocking with me, in my misery and my pain and my failures, I want you to enjoy my joys," she says. "If you can't just sit back and enjoy the miracles without offering every piece of advice Nana ever gave you, it's OK to unfollow. It's OK to just enjoy the ride."

"I want to be able to make whatever choice I want to make and not have to answer to anybody but me," she continues. "As long as I feel good, as long as I feel confident, screw you. Look in the mirror and fix your own life. (I want to) give people that example of somebody who refuses to let anyone dictate what the hell I do or don't do, or say or don't say."

And Union is determined to maintain a positive attitude and go easy on herself when it comes to her ability to balance her busy schedule.

"You try to do what you can in the hours that you can," she adds. "I may not be hitting it out of the park at work, at home, with her or with my husband, but that's OK."
