Visual artist Vladimir Kush claims that one shot in the clip features undeniable similarities to his 'The Candle' and 'The Candle 2' paintings.

AceShowbiz - This week surely has been tough for Ariana Grande. Amidst the ongoing mockery that she receives over her misspelled Japanese tattoo, the singer has been slapped with lawsuit for copyright infringement over the imagery in her "God Is a Woman" music video.

According to TMZ, which first broke the news, visual artist Vladimir Kush claims that the songstress' visuals uses imagery similar to his own work. Kush points to the 1:09 mark in the video in which Grande's silhouette is seen inside a flame with a bank of clouds in the backdrop. He states that the shot features undeniable similarities to his "The Candle" and "The Candle 2" paintings.

Alongside Grande, Kush is suing the production company behind the music video, Freenjoy, Inc. He claims in the documents that this is not the first time the company has been slapped with copyright infringement lawsuit. Last year, British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor sued the company for ripping her artwork in Kendrick Lamar and SZA's music video for "All the Stars". The suit was eventually settled.

Now, Kush is reportedly seeking an injunction to have the music video removed from the internet. Representatives for Grande did not immediately respond to request for comment.

"God Is a Woman" music video was released on July 13, 2018. Directed by Dave Meyers, the visuals paid homage to "The Creation of Adam" painting, Romulus and Remus, astronomy, female genitalia, Greek mythology and other visual imagery similar to that of "No Tears Left to Cry". Madonna was also featured in the clip, reciting a paraphrased version of a bible verse. As of now, the video has amassed nearly 200 million views.

The single itself was included on her latest album "Sweetener". It is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
