Ronan Sexton has passed away at the age of 35, five years after he suffered serious head injury after falling from a telephone booth while out with friends.

AceShowbiz - Liam Neeson's nephew, Ronan Sexton, has passed away five years after sustaining serious head injuries from a fall.

According to editors at Britain's Daily Mail, Neeson, who lives in the U.S. and regularly flies back home to Northern Ireland to see his mother and three sisters, is reportedly devastated by his nephew's death.

Sexton, the youngest of six children of Neeson's sister, Bernadette Sexton, died over the weekend, January 12-13, aged 35 surrounded by his family in Cushendall, Northern Ireland, reported The Belfast Telegraph.

In 2014 the "Taken" star's nephew suffered a serious injury after falling from a telephone booth and hitting his head on a night out with friends. At the time local authorities said Sexton fell about 20 feet from the structure in the early hours of a Sunday morning.

He was taken to hospital where he was in a critical condition before he was transferred to a specialist neurological centre.

"Ronan is receiving wonderful treatment from the dedicated staff at Hurstwood Park," his family said in a 2014 statement following the accident.

Sexton's death comes almost 10 years after the 66-year-old actor tragically lost his wife, British actress Natasha Richardson, who died at the age of 45 on March 2009 two days after she fell and hit her head while skiing in Quebec in Canada.

In April 2018, the father-of-two opened up about her untimely death in an interview with RTE, recalling how he buried himself in his work to cope with the loss.

"I'm not good without work. I just don't - I just don't wallow too much. You know?" he said. "And I just didn't want to - especially for my boys (Micheal and Daniel) - (to) seem to be wallowing in sadness or depression."

"There are periods now in our New York residence when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years... Any time I hear that door opening, I still think I'm going to hear her."
