The 'No Tears Left to Cry' singer shares a photo of her having a FaceTime call with her father after hinting at a family drama with him in her song 'Thank U, Next'.

AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande got in touch with her estranged father on Christmas Day. The 25-year-old singer/actress took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 25 to share a snap of her having a FaceTime call with her dad Edward Butera.
In the black-and-white image, the "God Is a Woman" songstress was seen putting her phone near a Christmas tree with candles and a polaroid camera surrounding it. Edward, who is a graphic designer, was flashing a wide smile on the phone screen.
Ariana addresses her relationship with her father in her latest hit single "Thank U, Next". She sings towards the end of the song, "One day I'll walk down the aisle/ holding hands with my mama/ I'll be thanking my dad 'cause she grew from the drama."
Edward and Ariana's mother Joan Grande split when the singer was 8 years old. While she's close to her mother, the former Nickelodeon star admitted that she fell out of touch with her father in 2013. In an interview with Seventeen magazine in 2014, she described the moment as "one of the hardest things" she'd ever had to deal with.
"It's private ... It took me so long to be okay with it," she shared. "The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn't like that about myself. I had to accept that it's okay not to get along with somebody and still love them."

But the two appeared to have patched things up as Edward shared a photo with his daughter in 2016. Ariana additionally paid tribute to her father on Father's Day in 2017 by sharing a throwback picture of Edward holding her as a baby. "Happy Father's Day I love you," she captioned it.
