The retired professional bodybuilder's bicep blew up after he got a routine vaccine shot at a local pharmacy, but it was administered wrong.

AceShowbiz - Lou Ferrigno has been a victim of vaccine shot gone wrong. On Wednesday, December 12, the former star of "The Incredible Hulk" TV series revealed on his Twitter account that he found himself taking a trip to a hospital after a nurse practitioner's mistake caused his bicep to swell.

Posting a photo of himself being hooked to an IV, the 67-year-old actor tweeted, "Went in for a pneumonia shot and landed here with fluid in my bicep." Though so, he assured fans that he will be okay, and added, "it's important that you keep an eye on who's giving the shot and make sure they not only swab the spot correctly but that you watch the needle come out of the package."

Ferrigno's tweet was quick to draw sympathies and well-wishes from his followers. One user replied, "That's awful, worked in phlebotomy can't believe this happened to you...I hope your feeling better soon." Another noted, "Just donated blood and I'm always afraid that I'll get a newbie medtech. Luckily she was probably the most skilled I encountered. Barely any Pain." A third one chimed in, "Thanks for the post. We all need to be reminded to be responsible for our care. Hope you’re better soon!"

Offering more details on Ferrigno's hospitalization was his wife, Carla. Speaking to Radar Online, she recalled, "He came back from the pharmacy and his arm was really hurting and it just got worse and worse so he had to go to hospital." She went on to dish that the swelling went down after her husband got hooked "to all sorts of drips" when treated at the hospital.

On whether her husband still stayed in the hospital, Carla said, "He's out now, but it wasn't a great experience." Despite the incident, she gushed that he wouldn't miss a red carpet event scheduled for later that evening. "He's much better which is good because he's going to be honored at black tie event in Hollywood tonight," she assured, "we're walking the red carpet!"
