The Vulcan arrives to warn the crew that a mysterious creature called the Red Angel 'is going to end all sentient life in the galaxy.'

AceShowbiz - A new deadly villain is coming to "Star Trek: Discovery". CBS All Access has released a new trailer for the series' upcoming season two, teasing that the Discovery crew will face a mysterious creature known as the Red Angel who has the power to end all life in the galaxy.

The arrival of the new villain prompts Spock (Ethan Peck) to join the crew and warns them about this dangerous creature. "Someone or something is going to end all sentient life in the galaxy," so the Vulcan says, who is now sporting a rather jarring beard. But it appears that him joining the crew doesn't sit well with Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), who tells Spock that she risks everything to help him. Spock calmly replies, "You assume every burden is yours."

The trailer also sees Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) joining Section 31 and the Discovery crew partnering with Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount).

In season two of "Star Trek: Discovery", the U.S.S. Discovery will be joining forces with Captain Pike on a new mission to investigate seven mysterious red signals and the appearance of an unknown being called the Red Angel. While the crew must work together to unravel their meaning and origin, Michael Burnham is forced to face her past with the return of her estranged brother, Spock.

Back in October, Sonequa teased that the Red Angel appears to her character at a "very, very critical moment." She said at the time, "It looks like a life or death moment. And I see this angel and I say that it gives me comfort and lets me know that everything is going to be OK. And then what I find out later is that Spock has also seen this same Red Angel, but when he was a child."

Season two of "Star Trek: Discover" will launch on January 17, 2019 on CBS All Access.
