Editors at FandangoNOW asked users to list the movies they'll be checking out online this Christmas, and Macaulay Culkin's 1990 film came out at number one, ahead of Will Ferrell's "Elf", which is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

The beloved 2003 movie also ranked high as the funniest Christmas film, while 69 per cent of voters said watching "Elf" is an annual holiday tradition, and 63 per cent regularly quote lines from the film to their friends and family during the holidays.

"Elf delivers that perfect blend of holiday nostalgia and unforgettable cinematic moments, combining to form the very definition of an instant classic," said Fandango managing editor Erik Davis.
