AceShowbiz - The first-look image of the new Prince Philip on "The Crown" is finally here. Netflix has unveiled a new photo featuring new cast member Tobias Menzies, who is taking over the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith in the upcoming season 3 and 4 of the Emmy-nominated series.

The "Game of Thrones" star is featured staring into distance while donning Philip's military regalia. "Ambition," the official Twitter account of the drama simply captions the image.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the new cast of 'The Crown' and to be working with Olivia Colman again. I look forward to becoming her 'liege man of life and limb,' " Menzies said in a statement when his casting was announced.

As season 3 will be set in the 1970s, it's only natural for the producers to recast every character in order to better reflect the age of their real-life counterparts. Colman has been tapped as Claire Foy's replacement as Queen Elizabeth II, while Helena Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret, who was previously played by Vanessa Kirby. Ben Daniels is set to portray Anthony Armstrong-Jones a.k.a. Lord Snowdon.

Also among the new cast members are Josh O'Connor and Erin Doherty. O'Connor is cast as Prince Charles with Doherty playing Princess Anne.

Season 3 is expected to cover major events in British history. It includes Princess Margaret's affair with Roddy Llewellyn, Margaret Thatcher's political rise, as well as the introduction of Camilla Parker Bowles. "The Crown" is set to return in 2019.
