Representatives for the five=piece group have announced on their official Twitter account that the gig would be rescheduled.

AceShowbiz - At least 14 people have been injured after a large tent collapsed at a Backstreet Boys concert on Saturday, August 18.

The outdoor pavilion at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, was damaged by severe wind and rain on Saturday, and an awning fell on fans waiting for the concert to begin.

According to TMZ.com, those injured were treated by emergency personnel and taken to local hospitals.

The stage and equipment were also damaged, forcing the Backstreet Boys to cancel the gig.

"Update... unfortunately, due to damage sustained in the storm earlier this evening, we are unable to perform the show tonight. Safety is always #1. Keep your tickets because, Backstreet WILL BE BACK!" bandmate Kevin Richardson posted on Twitter.

"Waiting and praying for our fans that were injured. If we can perform were ready to go. But safety is first," singer Nick Carter later shared.

Representatives for the stars announced on their official Twitter account that the gig would be rescheduled.

"We never want to put our fans in harm's way and with tonight's weather and the injuries from earlier, we have decided to cancel the show and will attempt to reschedule. The most important thing is for everyone to get home safely and we will see you all very soon!" they added.

Video footage has surfaced on social media showing fans helping others recover from the incident, which occurred outside the venue.

Kym Koch Thompson, a spokeswoman for the resort, explained that they began to evacuate the outdoor pavilion after noticing the huge storm quickly approaching, but some people did not leave the temporary structure.

"We know that fans often suffer through inclement weather for their favourite acts, but this was an unusual event and our thoughts are with those who were injured during this storm," she added in a statement.
