Some people are not thrilled by the reveal of the biracial singer's natural hair, comparing her look to fictional characters like Annie.

AceShowbiz - Singer Halsey has slammed Internet trolls who were rude about images of her natural hair she posted online.

The Bad at Love hitmaker shared a photo of herself showing off the true texture of her hair, which she normally hides under wigs, on Twitter and Instagram on Friday, August 10.

"new growth, new growth; all these fades I outgrew," she captioned the image, in which she wore a white robe and showed off her curly hair.

Many fans were quick to applaud the star for the honest photo, with the biracial singer telling one commenter she has "worked very hard for her hair". Other social media users were not so thrilled by her big reveal, with one comparing her look to fictional characters like Annie.

Halsey took to Twitter to defend herself, calling the rude statements "some f**ked up s**t".

The 23 year old has previously spoken candidly about struggles with her image and being a black woman who can pass as caucasian.

"I look like a white girl, but I don't feel like one. I’m a black woman,” she told Playboy magazine last year (17).

She added that she was “proud to be in a biracial family", adding, "I’m proud of who I am, and I’m proud of my hair".

Earlier this year, she also spoke out about the hair products handed out in hotels, calling it "white people shampoo".

"I've been traveling for years now and it’s been so frustrating that the hotel toiletry industry entirely alienates people of colour," she wrote in a post on Twitter. "I can't use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. Neither can 50% of ur customers. Annoying".
