AceShowbiz - Alessia Cara is back with a new song! After teasing it earlier this month, the songstress finally unleashed "Growing Pains", the first taste of her upcoming sophomore album, on Friday, June 15. Produced by Pop & Oak, the song features her singing about wrestling with loneliness and anxiety of transitioning from teen to young adult.

The release of the song was accompanied with a lyric video, which found Alessia performing "dangerous stunts" with props from the dollar store. "A short leash and a short fuse don't match/ They tell me it ain't that bad, now don't you overreact," she sings. "So I just hold my breath, don't know why/ I can't see the sun when young should be fun."

Talking about the song in an interview, Alessia revealed that she got an inspiration for the song when she was feeling blue while hitting the road. "One day on the bus, I was feeling very down. I was confused about myself and my place as a person and just this weird identity crisis at age 19," she said. "So I went to the back of the tour bus and thought I would write the song that day, because I was really in the thick of it."

"It's good to show the negative side of things, because sometimes we can find comfort in the fact that there is someone else going through the same thing that you are," she continued. "I also want to be positive and remind people that everything is temporary. The beauty of pain, in a weird way, is that it's temporary and we can grow from everything we go through."

Her sophomore album, "The Pains of Growing", is due out sometime in September. She previously teased that the upcoming effort is "a little bit more mature, and a little bit more cohesive."
